On Beginnings
On beginnings
The start of a movie is always my favorite part. Five minutes late to the theatre? The best part of the next 90 minutes has already played across that giant screen.
Beginnings hold something special. The beginning of the movie. The start of a new friendship. The first kiss at the alter. The first cocktail, the appetizer, opening day and the first few notes of your favorite song.
Maybe it’s the giddy anticipation of what’s to come. Maybe it’s the quiet relief of finally doing it, receiving it, being there. Maybe it’s the ignorance of not knowing what’s ahead, both the blissfully beautiful and the not so.
I like beginnings.
To be right here, finally, is a beginning.
And beginnings, no matter the form, need a proper introduction.
An opening credit. The first slow notes. The build up.
Here’s the opening - here’s to whatever comes next.
